If I said ‘Tree’ related to Bible, what would you have in mind?
Okay, some would quickly refer to the Garden of Eden’s incident. Some would remember Zaccheus and the sycamore tree. Some may refer to the trees in Revelation.
Or.. one of the popular one is the blessing proclamation of Psalm 1, “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”
What about the picture below spotted at Changi Beach, Singapore?
A tree standing strong on (or in?) soil submerged in sea water. Not exactly planted by the river, right? Yet, it is not lonely. It is a symbol of strength and blessedness despite the unusual situation.
How shall I put it?
In God we find our strength, peace and resource even as our situation is not common nor it is what we exactly wanted initially.
The tree will say, He makes my root strong like a deer on the rock and the sea water can’t poke my joyful heart. It will not make me salty!!
“Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:17-18 NKJV”
